This resource center was built to try to clarify and simplify the college application process for any student feeling a bit confused or unsure concerning how to approach it.
So while we use “First Generation and/or Low Income” in the title, as these are students who most often lack clear support and guidance, the resources below are by no means limited to just those students.
Guidance below will be helpful for (including but not limited to) students of color, first-generation college-bound students, LGBTQIA+ students, students from low-income backgrounds, students with disabilities, and students from rural communities.
Here’s a quick tour of what’s below:
You’ll see guidance on what resources to look at if you think you’re likely to look at only a few guides regarding college applications.
Below that, you’ll find a section with core college application resources.
And below that, you’ll find additional application resources.
We’re excited to help you on your college application journey.
If you’re only going to look at 3 resources, please look at
If you’re only going to look at 5 resources, please look at the 3 above +
If you’re only going to look at 7 resources, please look at the 5 above +
If you’re up for looking at more than that, chances are we have a guide on whatever it is you’re looking for.
Important notes
If you’re applying to highly-selective colleges (aka “highly rejectives”—schools with very low acceptance rates), you’ll have to look at at least the 7 above.
And if you’re applying to the UCs, that’s a very different application—head here to learn about how to write your UC PIQs.
